A waistband decides the skirt
A skirt is decided at the waistband long before anyone looks at the print. Every elastic waist in the collection is worn for a full working day before approval, and every fixed waistband is checked that it does not dig when you sit down. Zips are opened and closed until they run clean, lace trim is stitched flat rather than gathered, and every hem is measured against the shoe it will be worn with. The cable knits are worked to a consistent tension, washed twice and measured flat, so the body keeps its length and the rib keeps its grip into a second winter. If a sample lifts at the hem or bags at the seat, the pattern goes back to the table.
