Skirts and cable knits on the seven hills

SANDU-SORIN DIACONESCU runs this studio from Bloc R3 in Iași, a city built across seven hills where the walk to the university is uphill in one direction and downhill in the other. The collection answers that walk: five skirts from a belted mini to a lace-hem maxi, and three hooded cable knits that go over them when the Moldavian wind turns. Animal print, brown plaid, floral and a single red sit beside green and white cable work, so a knit bought in November still answers a skirt bought in May. The collection stays small on purpose, because a rail of eight pieces that agree with each other is worth more than thirty that do not.

A waistband, a hem and a click of the zip

A skirt is decided at the waistband and a knit at the rib. Every elastic waist is worn for a full working day before approval, and every fixed waistband is checked that it does not dig when you sit. Zips are opened and closed until they run clean, lace trim is stitched flat rather than gathered, and every hem is measured against the shoe it will be worn with. Cable knits are worked to a consistent tension, washed twice and measured flat, so the body keeps its length and the rib keeps its grip into a second winter. If a sample lifts at the hem or bags at the seat, the pattern returns to the table.
